Relocating to Nashville? Here’s What You Need to Know.

Relocating—whether it’s across the country or a few towns over—can be a difficult process. There’s always so much to coordinate, from actually finding your home to packing up and leaving, that it’s easy to become overwhelmed. Luckily, my team is here to take some of the stress off of your shoulders! Nashville is a place with its own unique culture, so knowing the ins and outs of this thriving city can make the transition much easier. Here are a few tips to make your move to Nashville go smoothly.

1. Check out Nashville’s job market.

Nashville has a thriving job market that makes it a great place to relocate to. With so many options, it’s easy to get intimidated. A good place to start is Nashville’s Chamber of Commerce site. If you’re looking for employment connections, don’t miss their resume bank, which is regularly accessed by Chamber members. Some of the area’s top employers are Nissan, Vanderbilt University, Amazon, and AT&T.

Nashville is great for those in the healthcare profession, as we have many top rated hospitals and healthcare providers. Examples include the Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Saint Thomas Health, and HCA Healthcare. Nashville’s unemployment rate has also hit a historic low at 3.2%, which is lower than the national average of 3.8%.

2. Learn more about Nashville’s culture.

Most notably, Nashville is known for its country music and great food. Some popular spots are Music Row, a spot for artists located in the heart of Nashville, and the Country Music Hall of Fame, which displays the greatest accomplishments of country musicians. If you’re interested in sports, the Tennessee Titans are our local football team—they play at the Nissan Stadium and we’re crazy about them.

In addition, one of our favorite specialty foods here in Nashville is hot chicken. Legend has it that Prince’s, an East Nashville icon, started the trend of spicing up fried chicken to make it irresistibly hot. Try it if you dare, but be careful, it’s hot!

3. Find a moving company.

Choosing a moving company can be tough. When you’re uprooting your life, sometimes all the way across the country, it can be hard to find someone to trust. Fortunately, Nashville offers a variety of outstanding companies to work with!

If you’re trying to find a moving company in the Nashville area, know the right questions to ask. Have they worked with your type of move before? What things will they transport and what will you have to move yourself? Do they have any references? Will insurance be required? It can be daunting to consider all of these things on top of buying a home. Don’t worry, though; your best bet is searching for reviews online or talking to your agent. Some of my recommendations are Bellhops, 6th Man Movers, and True Friends Moving Company.

4. Find the right neighborhood.

So you want to move to Nashville—that’s fantastic! Before you buy a home, though, you’ll want to consider all of Nashville’s neighborhoods and suburbs to find the right fit. Each community has perks, so research is crucial to narrowing down your dream locations.

Looking to thrive in the city center with access to live music, local restaurants, and major sporting events? Living in the middle of Nashville may be for you. Looking for a bit more space and tranquility? Franklin is 30 minutes outside of the city center and is home to 80,000 people, scenic green spaces, and plenty of stunning scenery to enjoy. With so many options, it can be difficult to figure out what you may want. This is where my team comes in—they can help you weigh the pros and cons to each area and find you the property you’ve been searching for.
