8 of Nashville’s Most Unique Bars

Picture a typical bar.

You know, a place with beer and cocktails and maybe a handful quick bites, some booths lining the walls or a few high tops scattered in the middle. Of course, there’s the obligatory bar, probably hosting a few patrons nursing beers and urging on the local sports team on the TV behind the counter. If there’s a DJ or live music, there are probably more than a few people dancing away or singing along, too.

It’s a pretty familiar scene, and while there’s certainly nothing wrong with that, it can definitely be nice to try something new. So… here are a few of Nashville’s most unique bars to give you a taste of something new.

Santa’s Pub

Why it’s unique: Because it’s Christmas ALL YEAR LONG.

Tell me more: This cash-only, beer-only bar is pretty down-to-earth, but you definitely can’t deny there’s nothing quite like it in the area! Plus, there’s karaoke all night long.

The Patterson House

Why it’s unique: It’s an intimate speakeasy with a cozy library feel.

Tell me more: Limiting the number of patrons allowed into the classic cocktail bar means that each customer gets personalized attention and a finely-crafted beverage. It’s a quieter, laid-back spot.

The Greenhouse Bar

Why it’s unique: As the name might suggest, it’s a bar in an actual greenhouse.

Tell me more: It’s a bar. In a greenhouse. With plants, gravel, and fire pits. Basically, it’s the perfect place for getting out of the cold. Oh, and the food is darn good, too.

Old Glory

Why it’s unique: It’s located in a converted dry cleaner boiler room… and the ceilings are 40+ feet tall.

Tell me more: It’s a big space with a multi-level room and an intimate setting. Drinks are unique and pretty clever, too, but they’re definitely not cute girly drinks!

Fleet Street Pub

Why it’s unique: It’s basically a British pub in the middle of Nashville.

Tell me more: You don’t get more British than Fleet Street Pub (unless, you know, you’re in Britain). There’s Guinness, dart boards, true fish n’ chips with malt vinegar, football (not the American kind) on TV, and even Dr. Who memorabilia scattered around.

Skull’s Rainbow Room

Why it’s unique: The nightly (PG-13) burlesque show definitely sets it apart from the crowd!

Tell me more: The drinks are named for characters in Nashville history, the atmosphere is definitely old-school, and the burlesque is tasteful talent suitable for all bar-goers. The chophouse menu is good too.

Acme Feed & Seed

What makes it unique: This four-story bar is really like three bars all rolled into one.

Tell me more: Each level of Acme Feed & Seed brings its own vibe, whether it’s the kitchen and main stage on the main floor, the chill ambiance and cocktails of the second floor, or the tiki-bar specials of the rooftop hangout (complete with great Downtown views).

The Green Hour

What makes it unique: By day, cafe; by night, green light.

What now?? During the day, The Green Hour is a chocolatier and cafe. At night, the “green light” switches on and the absinthe (aka “The Green Fairy”) starts flowing. That means absinthe shots and some pretty unique cocktails, too.
